Sarah Rabdau
Landscape Designer
Hearing that my client is in their garden and amazed by visiting wildlife and buzzing pollinators makes me say, ‘yes – that’s why I do it.’ – Sarah
Growing up in the beach towns on the North Shore of Massachusetts, and in the canyons of Southern California, Sarah’s initial interest in the landscape was largely as an observer. After decades studying music and performance, carving out a place for herself in the Boston music scene as a critically acclaimed singer/songwriter, her interest in songwriting began to wane. Coincidentally, at the same time, she began to cultivate her first garden, and the experience liberated her. Changing course, she threw herself into the botanical world and entered an intensive study of Landscape Design and Horticulture at the esteemed New York Botanical Garden.
When collaborating with clients, Sarah often draws from her songwriting background, considering the sensory experience of a garden unveiling itself and the movement it creates. She has a passion for working native plants into residential gardens, and creating outdoor rooms that beckon their homeowners to discover the world outside. As a project manager, clients appreciate her communication skills as well as her thorough coordination of many moving parts.
